OUR INTERIOR DESIGN PROCESS
WHY JO HAMILTON INTERIORS?
Each client and every property is different, but what stays the same is my passion for great design and providing a high quality, personal interior design and interior architecture service that results in bespoke, elegant and luxurious interiors.
One of the highlights of my work remains witnessing the joy of a client when they feel seen and heard in my designs. I’m also still exhilarated by the challenge of identifying how we can add value to a property; harnessing our long-standing industry connections to make the very best of a budget; and, going beyond the expectations of our clients.
We are a close-knit studio and I am deeply involved in all aspects of the interior design process, which means every project is truly unique, with each element painstakingly, but enthusiastically, considered.
It’s this attention to detail and enthusiasm, underpinned by more than 30 years’ experience on-site and in the studio, that help to ensure we stay at the forefront of luxury interior design.
01. WHO DO WE WORK WITH?
We work with private homeowners, developers, investors and businesses. Budgets, briefs and timelines vary, as does the level of client involvement.
We design for all types and ages of property: city apartments and new-build show homes; architecturally significant houses and country retreats; restaurants, hotels, shops and offices.
We collaborate with client architects and can introduce trusted architects, contractors and specialist trades. For smaller works — bathrooms, redecorations, kitchens — we can also help with individual trades (decorators, electricians, tilers and more).
02. HOW DO WE WORK?
It’s important to us that clients feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the process, so it is vital that costs are clear from the outset and tailored to fit the budget set by the client.
There are numerous models for working with an interior designer and we’re happy to consider each, or any combination, of these — whether that’s a total cost based on a price per sqm; a percentage of total costs per budget for build or FF&E, for example; retainer; or hourly/daily consultation.
We are happy to help clients divide budgets so that design costs can be separated — for instance we can produce a kitchen design or lighting plan as individually-priced pieces of work.
03. WHEN TO APPOINT?
Ideally, appoint us at the very start — before a spade hits the ground.
Construction can be stressful and your interior ambition can be compromised early. We help develop or review plans (including lighting and electrics); create 3D models; produce furniture layouts; design kitchens, bathrooms and joinery; and resolve details critical to a coherent scheme.
For smaller projects (a bathroom refurb, extension or new kitchen), we can design, specify, supply and coordinate manufacture through to installation with our network — often at highly competitive prices.
04. HOW CAN WE HELP ON SITE?
As one of the leading luxury interior design companies in London, we offer a comprehensive architectural and project management service for construction projects throughout Greater London and the Home Counties. Clients can choose a project management fee structure that suits them best, including by the hour or build cost percentage.
05. WHEN DO WE GET STARTED?
We can meet straight away, even before an architect is appointed. Interior design ideally runs in parallel with, or slightly ahead of, construction proposals.
Initial meetings focus on needs, preferences and how spaces will be used. The first meeting is complimentary.
06. DESIGN CONSULTATION
Some clients prefer to manage their own designs and just need guidance. For this, a consultation works well.
Fees for Jo’s consultation are: half-day £800 (three and a half hours) or full-day £1,500 (seven-hour day). Travel costs not included.
Please contact the studio with consultation enquiries and we’ll help you get the most from the time.

We are also experienced in developing exterior designs and garden layouts that complement our interiors work.
08. WHAT HAPPENS?
Each room is meticulously curated: colour palette, furniture selection, lighting specification, floor finishes, fabrics and layout.
Designs are communicated through mood and sample boards and specialist software, which helps clients see proposals clearly. Photorealistic CGIs can be produced upon request where helpful.
We welcome feedback throughout — the process is a conversation from concept to completion.
Purchased items can be supplied directly through us (often at competitive or discounted rates) or sourced elsewhere if preferred, and depending on how you want to work with us.
09. PERSONAL SHOPPING
Jo offers a personal shopping service for showrooms, galleries, dealers and fairs. Fees align with consultation rates.
Please send a personal shopping enquiry.
10. LOOKING FOR A PROPERTY IN LONDON
We offer a discreet prime residential property search service in London, plus a commercial property search service.
